Bankside Gallery

Bankside Gallery at 48 Hopton Street, London was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1980 and is a registered educational charity. The gallery is home to the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) and Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) on the Southbank of the river Thames close to Blackfriars Bridge and almost next to the Tate Modern. They have a programme of exhibitions, workshops, talks and events celebrating the best in contemporary water-based media and original prints, championing the work of both new and established artists. Other societies and associations that exhibit at the Bankside Gallery include Art for Cure, the Printmakers Council and the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists. Suffolk artists who have exhibited at the Bankside Gallery include Penny Bhadresa, Francis Bowyer, Michael Chase, Michael Crowe, Michael Fell, Terry Jeffrey, Tessa Shedley Jordan, Jane Lewis, John Lidzey, Monica Petzal, Peter David Polaine, Sarah Muir Poland, Claudia Silva, David Thomas Smith and Caroline Wendling.
