HUMAN, Jane
Jane Human has her origins in the East Anglian fens. Jane graduated from the University of Brighton and worked for many years as an illustrator and artist with design agencies and international publishers. She has held senior lectureships at Northumbria University and Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, and has been an external examiner at Middlesex University and University Centre Maidstone. Jane Human is a painter and printmaker living and working in Suffolk, her work is inspired by her love of open space and the seemingly inconsequential landscapes around her, made intriguing by her closely observed studies of shifting colour and light, rhythm and texture. Jane's unique working processes utilise a 1940's offset litho press which enables her to build many layers of painted and mono printed marks over many weeks in series until the image resolves and a textual richness develops. In her studio at Eye in Suffolk these notes and ideas crystallise to create a powerful sense of place within her paintings. She exhibits widely in the UK including at the Royal Academy; Royal Society of British Artists; Mall Galleries; National Open Art (NOA); The International Original Print Exhibition, hosted by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers at Bankside Gallery; Royal Exchange Gallery; Curwen Gallery, London; Affordable Art Fairs and locally at Bircham Gallery,Gallery East and elsewhere. Her work is included in the Public Art Foundation and NHS, and in many corporate and private collections in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
