SILVA, Claudia
Claudia Silva is a British-Chilean artist. Claudia has been painting and drawing since childhood and worked for several years as a costume designer, sourcing fabrics and materials for television, theatre and film production in both Spain and the UK. In 2010 she graduated from Camberwell University of the Arts with an M.A. with a merit in Visual Art and Illustration and became a professional artist. Her work is inspired by her environment, the natural world, and its inhabitants and, being a keen gardener, many of the plants become the subject in her paintings. Having travelled extensively she has lived with her family in Northern Spain but has now returned to live at Great Glemham in Suffolk. Claudia paints in watercolour, gouache and occasionally in oils and is also interested in textiles and embroidery and as well as producing illustrations for children's books, has exhibited in galleries both in Spain and the UK including Blackheath Concert Halls, London; Craftco, Southwold; Suffolk Open Studios; Contexto Gallery, Girona, Spain; El Bellmiral, Girona, Spain; St Anne's Gallery, Lewes; Open Studio, Sant Daniel, Girona; La Volta, Girona; Royal Watercolour Society Open at Bankside Gallery, London; Corner Room Gallery, Framlingham and Artspace Woodbridge in Suffolk; and elsewhere.
