Michael Crowe

Michael John Brook Crowe, was born in the NW Surrey district in August 1942, son of Percy William Crowe (1913-1996) and his wife Ruth née Brook, who married in Surrey in 1940. After retiring from a career in the City in 2000, Michael has been painting more or less continuously. Michael studied at the Royal Academy drawing school and with Hugo Grenville (born 1958), Christopher Baker (born 1956) and Hugh Webster [q.v.]. He married at Kensington, London in 1965, Elizabeth J. Milbank. An artist mainly landscapes in oil but also paints in all medias, including watercolour and was voted East of England Artist of the Year at the National Open Art Competition 2017 with his 'Big sky at Felixstowe Ferry'. A full member of Suffolk Open Studios with his studio at Shelley House, Shelley, Ipswich and he has exhibited in several solo and mixed shows including Cobbold & Judd.
