Francis Bowyer

Francis Bowyer was born in London in May 1952. He studied at St Martins School of Art and at Chelsea School of Art. Bowyer works in watercolour, oil and mixed media and is a member and past President of the Royal Watercolour Society 20002003 and is a member and regular exhibitor at the New English Art Club. He lives and works in Chiswick, West London and has exhibited widely across the country, and has work held in the Royal Collection and HRH Prince Charles Collection. Awards include the W H Patterson Fine Arts Award 1995 and his work earned him the Arts Club Prize at the 226th Royal Academy. Not strictly a Suffolk artist but his paintings of Walberswick, Suffolk and his interiors of Parisian restaurants create a lively vibrancy that has enchanted the public and buyers at each exhibition. In 2013 Francis Bowyer visited Camp Bastion in Afghanistan to make a series of war paintings, which are were exhibited with the Royal Watercolour Society at the Bankside Gallery in London. He teaches life drawing at the Royal Academy of Art, London as well as at Richmond Adult and community college.
