Tessa Jordan

Tessa Shedley Jordan was born in the Hammersmith district of London on 30 July 1948, daughter of Albert P. Jordan and his wife Margery Joan née Gill (1915-2000), who married at Hendon, Middlesex in 1946. Tessa was educated at Christ's Hospital and studied at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts 1965-1969, a foundation course year followed by a three-year Dip.AD course, her tutors included Euan Uglow (1932-2000), Ben Levine (1938-2010) and Christopher Chamberlain (1918-1994). In her final year Tessa took on some paid illustration work for the 'Times Literary Supplement' and 'Radio Times' and on leaving college, took up children’s book illustration as a career. She married at Merton, Surrey in 1971, Roy D. Hamilton, they had one daughter, with Tessa still working as Tessa Jordon or Tessa Shedley-Jordan. Tessa taught drawing and painting, both privately and tutoring adult education courses at the West Suffolk College. She commenced painting seriously in 2002, exhibiting with local art societies having her first gallery exhibition at the Hunter Gallery, Long Melford, Suffolk in 2005 since when she has exhibited regularly both at the Hunter Gallery and at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London, the Royal Watercolour Society Open at the Bankside Gallery and the 'Sunday Times' Watercolour Competition have accepted her work. A member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists and attended life classes two or three days a month and has also taken in courses with the New English Art Club at the Royal Academy, and with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Bankside Gallery. Tessa lives at 7 The Glebe, Alpheton, Sudbury, Suffolk.
