UPSTAIRS GALLERY
UpStairs Gallery at Exchange Square, Beccles, Suffolk has been running since 2007 with Michelle Payne as gallery owner and manager. It has been featured in many publications since its beginning and has grown to win seven awards, including Pride in the Community, Suffolk County Council and Waveney Chamber of Commerce – Growth and Redevelopment, and Barclays Trading Places Top 100 business. The ethos of the gallery was to allow all artists to participate in exhibiting their work, artists could display their works commission free, which means they take 100% sales, to allow them maximum revenue for their skills and development. Student, emerging, established, and professional artists could apply, giving the viewer a variety of choice and the flexibility with revenue to select their choice, prices reflect accordingly. The artists and craft-makers had 15 large, roomed arts galleries to rotate every month. Suffolk artists who have exhibited at the UpStairs Gallery include Rinat Baibekov, Paul Janssens, Annie Mclean, Rob Negus, Richard Nejranowski, Marion Newcombe, Jess Parker-andrews, Michelle Payne, Annie Rice, Clare Rizzo and Clare Rizzo.
