HOBSON, Ania
Ania Monika Trojanowska Hobson was born at Kidderminster, Worcestershire in 1990, daughter of Peter R. Hobson, who worked for the Forestry Commission, and his wife Malgorzata Ewa née Trojanowska, who married at Worcester in 1986. Ania, who is a sister to both Thom Hobson and Kasia Hobson, grew up on a smallholding at Rendham, near Saxmundham, Suffolk. She was educated at Thomas Mills School in Framlingham and studied at University Campus Suffolk now Suffolk University, Ipswich and, after graduating in 2011 and whilst full-time staging her exhibitions and working towards her commissions, studied at the Prince's Drawing School, now the Royal Drawing School, in London and continued her studies in Portraiture at the Florence Academy of Art, Italy gaining a degree in fine art. Animals and wildlife were her first subjects, but Ania specialises in portrait and wildlife paintings and works primarily in oils and, where possible, works from life to capture the movement and characteristics of her subjects, her interpretation is life-like and traditional and yet with a contemporary feel. She has achieved first round in both Royal Society of Portrait Painters Open Exhibition and the Threadneedle Prize in 2012 and where she has exhibited regularly. Ania, who works from Asylum Studios at Bentwaters, Woodbridge, has also exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists and with the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries in London and at Aldeburgh Gallery; Wingfield Barns, Suffolk; Magic Bus Gala, Dorchester Hotel, Mayfair, London; Upstairs Gallery, Beccles; World Land Trust Gallery, Halesworth; Carley's Yard, Framlingham; Studio 3, Ipswich Town Hall Gallery and internationally including Venice Biennale 2019 at the European Cultural Centrem; Andrea Festa Fine Art, Rome and SETAREH Gallery, Düsseldorf. Ania has her paintings hang in Italy, Holland, Germany, Canada, and the USA.
