ZAWADZKI, Paul
Paul Jan Zawadzki, a Suffolk born artist, son of Jan Zawadzki and his wife Grace Mary née Clark (19 February 1926-2002), who married in North Suffolk in 1958. Paul was educated at Bungay and then at Harleston High Schools, before studying at Wimbledon School of Art and Kingston University, graduating with a B.A. (hons) Illustration and at Norwich University of the Arts for his master's in fine art. Paul has worked on numerous commissions in a wide range of styles, such as book illustrations, fine art commissions, various graphic design projects and corporate identity design. Heavily involved in the arts, as a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, or artist and is also a composer of electronic music and a recording artist. His works have a grounding in traditional landscape painting with a contemporary twist using blotting, dripping and other paint manipulation techniques. He lives in the Suffolk Waveney Valley where he is provided with the inspiration for his work with the wonderful stony, nearly deserted beaches at Dunwich and Covehithe on the Suffolk coast. His solo shows include Maddermarket Theatre, Norwich; Claremont Fine Art, Sevenoaks; Grapevine Contemporary, Norfolk; Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading; Upstairs Gallery, Beccles; Fisher Theatre Gallery, Bungay and has many mixed exhibitions throughout the country including Bank Arts Centre, Eye and donated from Bungay to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013, 'Three Trees-Bungay Common' and the following year an acrylic, 'Lazy Evening'. A member of Easterly Artists and the Harleston and Waveney Art Traill and sometimes works under the name of 'Artbear' from his studio at 24 Upper Olland Street, Bungay, Suffolk with his new gallery next door at 24a.
