Paul J. Zawadzki, a Suffolk born artist, son of Jan Wawadzki and his wife Grace Mary née Clark, who married in North Suffolk in 1958. Educated at Bungay and then at Harleston High Schools, before studying at Wimbledon School of Art and Kingston University, Surrey, graduating with a BA (hons) Illustration. His works have a grounding in traditional landscape painting with a contemporary twist by the use of blotting, dripping and other paint manipulation techniques. He lives in the Suffolk Waveney Valley where he is provided with the inspiration for his work with the wonderful stony, nearly deserted beaches at Dunwich and Covehithe on the Suffolk coast, with the ruins of the church looming on the horizon as he walks along the receding clifftop, provides surreal images of the gnarled trees that have fallen from the cliff top, and along the coast at Dunwich the choice is forest, beach or inland marshes and nature reserves. His solo shows include Maddermarket Theatre, Norwich; Daylight Gallery, ADT College, Wandsworth; Claremont Fine Art, Surbiton; Grapevine Gallery, Questors Theatre, Ealing; Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading; Upstairs Gallery, Great Yarmouth; Fisher Theatre, Bungay; Baileys Deli, Beccles, (artist in residence Beccles Festival); RSPB Discovery Centre, Minsmere, Suffolk and has many mixed exhibitions throughout the country.
