Terry Shave

Terence John Shave, was born at Newton, near Stowmarket, Suffolk on 8 June 1952, son of Fred Charles Shave (5 April 1908-1980), a coal hoist labourer, and his wife Ada Phyllis née Rulton (born 5 September 1913), who married at Gipping in 1935 and in 1939 were living at Mill Hill, Old Newton, Gipping, Suffolk. Terry studied at Ipswich School of Art 1971-1972, Loughborough College of Art 1972-1975 and Slade School of Fine Arts 1975-1977. A lecturer in art at North Staffordshire Polytechnic, Harlow College, Essex; Portsmouth, Manchester and North East London Polytechnics and Chelsea School of Art. A painter, draughtsman who has had mixed exhibitions at Loughborough University from mid-1970s; Ipswich Art Gallery; Thumb Gallery, Aspect Gallery in Portsmouth and Gainsborough's House, Sudbury. After a solo show at Suffolk's Framlingham Art Gallery in 1974 he exhibited at North Staffordshire Polytechnic Gallery and Morley Gallery in 1983 and The Minories, Colchester 1985 and at Usher Gallery, Lincoln 2013, Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and Potteries Museum and Art Gallery Stoke-on-Trent 2014. Terry married at Ipswich in 1976, Helena M. Walker and they had three sons. Currently Professor of Fine Art and Head of Visual Arts, Nottingham Trent University and lived at 19 Park Avenue, Wolstanton, Staffordshire.
