MOSELEY, Malcolm
Malcolm R. Moseley was born at Birmingham on 2 February 1947, son of Francis Kenneth Moseley (18 February 1915-1983), a postman, and his wife Ellen Margaret née Cunningham (12 October 1916-26 November 2006), who married at Birmingham in 1938 and in 1939, were living at 38 Blucher Street, Birmingham. After King Edward VI Five Ways Grammar School, Birmingham, Malcolm completed a foundation year at Birmingham School of Art and then studied at Winchester School of Art 1966-1969, the Central School of Arts and Crafts 1969-1970, and the Royal College of Art 1970-1973, gaining his master's degree. An administrator at the Royal Academy of Arts 1976-1984 and was living at 131 Norwich Road, Ipswich. A tutor, firstly at the Ipswich School of Art in High Street, Ipswich followed as leader of the Foundation Course at Suffolk New College, Ipswich now the University of Suffolk. Moseley's paintings investigate colour, shape and texture in the landscape, with multi-layered mixed media constructions many are built up layer by layer over a period, sometimes quite abstract whilst others introduce a hint of still life artefacts such as vases or flowers. A member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from 133 Norwich Road, Ipswich in 1990 four paintings, 'Sunset', 'Sun and Hills', 'Flowers in a Window' and 'Spring Flowers', three in 1997 'Goal Mouth', 'Still Life' and 'Docks and Boats' and in 2006 exhibited two acrylics on canvas 'Side On' and 'Way Over'. Malcolm was also a member of the Suffolk Group of Artists from 1987 and of the Colchester Art Society. He has had several solo shows including the John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and the Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge, and included in numerous mixed exhibitions, including the Royal Academy Summer Shows and the New English Art Club, his other exhibitions include the Royal Watercolour Society; London Group of Artists; Curwen Gallery; New Academy Gallery; Eastern Open Art Exhibition at Christchurch Mansion; North House Gallery; Peppermint Shed Gallery, Ipswich and the Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh and elsewhere. He still lives in Ipswich.
