PETER PEARS GALLERY
The Peter Pears Gallery at 152a High Street, Aldeburgh, Suffolk was named in honour of Sir Peter Neville Luard Pears (1910-1986) the internationally acclaimed tenor and partner of Benjamin Britten (1913-1976), and the Courtyard Gallery was known as the Garage Gallery and owned by Snape Maltings/Britten Pears Arts and Snape Maltings Galleries for many years. It began life as function room in the East Suffolk Hotel, an important historic commercial building on Aldeburgh’s High Street. It is now known as Ballroom Arts Gallery which takes its name from its previous life as a function room.
