ZoŽ Rubens

Born at Ipswich, Suffolk in 1969, daughter of Maurice Rubens and his wife Ursula M. H. née Stroh, who married at Chelsea in 1961, she is the younger sister of Sula Rubens [q.v.]. ZoŽ gained a first-class honours degree in sculpture from the Metropolitan University of Manchester 1988-1991 and awarded a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Founders to study ceramic shell bronze casting at the London Institute 1992. She obtained a Prince's Youth Business Trust grant in 1994 and Friends of Suffolk Craft Society bursary to research in Barcelona 1995 and had further experience in Europe. ZoŽ lectured part-time at Suffolk College, Ipswich 1994-1996 and at Anglia Polytechnic University Cambridge 1998-1999. Zoe works mainly with metal, ceramic and cement and her exhibition include at Society of Scottish Artists; Royal Scottish Academ;, Manchester City Art Gallery 1992; Kettle's Yard, Cambridge and the Minories, Colchester 1997; Royal West of England Academy 2000 and Bablylon Gallery, Ely 2001 with a solo exhibition at New Academy Gallery 2003.
