Val Bright-Jones

Valerie Jones, originally came from Enfield, North London and attended Hornsey School of Art and after school, trained as a cartographer with the Ordnance Survey in Southampton. Val moved to Suffolk in 1969 and studied at St Osyths College, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex 1974-1976, gaining her teaching qualification and taught art at 'A Level' in schools in Suffolk and Essex, most recently at Hedingham, Essex, before taking early retirement. Val had spent some time travelling in the Cook Islands and in Australia, where she painted murals, returning to England where she purchased and managed an interior design business for 7 years. Her passion for art continued, and in 2013 she gained a B.A.(hons) in Fine Art from Suffolk University Campus and an M.A. in Arts Practice in 2017. She married at Sudbury, Suffolk in 2000, Alec E. Jones and added her father's name and now works as Val Bright-Jones. Val enjoys the versatility of undertaking printmaking, sculpture and mixed media but is mainly a painter, experimenting with mixed media and printmaking but drawing is an important starting-point, when the magical quality of paint takes over and develops a life of its own. Val has exhibited at The Minories, Colchester; Art Fair East, Norwich; The Sentinel Gallery, Wivenhoe, Essex; Apex, Bury St Edmund's; Halesworth Gallery; Prettys Art Exhibitions, Ipswich; Ipswich Art School Gallery; Ipswich Waterfront Gallery; Caroline Wiseman, The Lookout, Aldeburgh, Suffolk; Truman Gallery, Brick Lane, London and has a solo exhibition at The Freudian Art Show at St Helens Street, Ipswich and elsewhere.
