Chris McElhatton

Christopher David McElhatton, was born at Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1951, son of Peter McElhatton and his wife Patricia E. née Boyd, who married at Durham in 1950. He studied at Leeds Polytechnic 1973-1976, graduating B.A.(hons) in Three Dimensional Design; at University of London 1993-1994, post graduate certificate of Education Art and Design and at Goldsmiths College, London. Chris has worked on commercial exhibition design projects including museum design projects which included work for the Freud Museum, interactive exhibits for the Education Department of the Natural History Museum and animatronics for the Education Department of London Zoo. Artist in residence for Suffolk Education and museum educator at the Wolsey Gallery, Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich and is now an artist working in East Anglia. His painting are inspired by the landscape of East Anglia in the changing seasons and has exhibited his paintings, prints and installations at the Pond Gallery; Snape Maltings; Aldeburgh Gallery; Peter Pearís Gallery, Aldeburgh and with the Sudbourne Park Printmakers Group, all in Suffolk and at 54 The Gallery Mayfair. He married at Camden, London in 1991, Patricia D. Lawton and his studio is located at The Coach House, Aldringham, near Thorpeness in Suffolk.
