FIELD, Hayley
Hayley Field was born at Epping, Essex in 1967, daughter of Andrew Field and his wife Margaret A. née Jones, who married at Epping in 1964. Hayley studied at Loughton County High School 1978-1985 and on a Foundation Course in Art and Design at Loughton College of Further Education 1985-1987, Chelsea School of Art, London 1986-1989, gaining a B.A. (hons) degree in painting and at Middlesex University, London 1991-1992, gaining an M.A. in Video and has continued her artistic practice since leaving college. Hayley has worked at the London College of Printing, the Camden Arts Centre and as co-director at Suffolk ArtLink. Her paintings are something that she cannot imagine, moving light, strange shapes, events which may be spied fleetingly from a car or train, recalled purely from memory, or studied more carefully, it is their colour and composition that interests her. She applies paint in several ways, washes, brushstrokes, masking, and stencilling working back through layers of paint, destroying and erasing, creating a flat but complex plane. Hayley has had solo exhibitions at The Cut Halesworth and elsewhere, with and mixed shows at Anna French Studio, Brixton; Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk; Eastern Open Art Exhibition at King's Lynn Arts Centre; APT Gallery, Artworks Creekside, Deptford; Art Britannia in Art Basel Miami Beach and elsewhere. She has her studio at Victoria Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
