Nina Roffey

Nina C. Roffey, until 1983 painting and drawing was a hobby for Nina, she then studied fine art and related subjects obtaining a B.A. (hons) degree at Stoke-on-Trent College in 1986 and studied at the University of East Anglia (UEA) 1988-1990. Initially she painted mainly in oils proceeding onto any media including collage and assemblages on found wood. Nina uses wood for carving that she finds, which may immediately give her an idea for a subject, but other pieces may sit about until an idea or a subject that inspires her comes to mind. Much of the wood used is driftwood from riverbanks and the beach. In 1999 Nina began tutoring at a local venue 'The Works' in Beccles and continued to tutor locally. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in galleries in Stoke-on-Trent; Colchester; Bury St Edmund's and she has had solo exhibitions at The Raveningham Gallery, Norfolk; Contact Gallery, Norwich; The Quay in Sudbury; The Steeple End Gallery, Halesworth; Aldeburgh Gallery, Aldeburgh and at the Norwich Festival, ‘Greek Echoes’. She is a member of Waveney & Blyth Arts and a full member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at 52 Park Drive, Worlingworth, Beccles, Suffolk.
