CONTACT GALLERY NORWICH
A group of local artists set up Contact Gallery at a shop at 56 St Benedicts Street, Norwich, later also taking over St Margaret's Church. Twelve exhibitions a year, mostly drawn from a membership of 200 artists and there were exchanges with galleries in Sheffield and Norway usually covered by the local media. Although the main gallery eventually closed in 1999, the charity kept on running St Margaret's Church until 2010. The Contact Gallery in Norwich was also known as Norfolk Artists Gallery Ltd. The records are at Norfolk Record Office SO 230 and ACC 2009/221. Suffolk artists who exhibited with the Contact Gallery include Neil Hanger, Nina Roffey and Julia Sutton.
