HUDSON, Craig
Craig Scott Hudson was born in Ipswich in 1979, son of Roy D Hudson and his wife Susan M Dawdry, who married at Ipswich in 1972. After ten years in the retail trade, Craig studied at University Campus Suffolk now University of Suffolk initially working as a painter until a tutor challenged him to make sculptures when he moved between disciplines. He now works from Butley Mills Studios in Suffolk and much of his work is cast in bronze, from elements modelled in clay or fluid shapes fashioned from expanding foam, others are cast directly from real objects, such as the artists hands or shoes, a real balloon or beach ball. His work is bound up in a sense of contrast; internal fragility and a hardened exterior represented not only by using bronze, but textures, colours and the presence of objects such as the reoccurring balloon. A member of Waveney & Blyth Arts and has exhibited at Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; the Fairhurst Gallery, Norwich; Freudian Sheep Gallery, Ipswich and elsewhere.
