DEBEN GALLERY
The Woodbridge Art Gallery at 26 Market Hill, Woodbridge, Suffolk was founded by Anne Paterson Wallace in 1961 which she sold in 1969 to Derek and Josephine Walpole who ran the newly named Deben Gallery. The Wallace also ran their gallery at Stradbroke. The Deben Gallery in-house framing service outgrew the rooms behind the gallery and in 1985 they moved to the nearby 22 Anson Road, Martlesham Heath and in 1988 Derek and Josephine’s son Robert joined the firm and assumed control of Deben Frames in 1993. The Deben Gallery at Woodbridge held an exhibition of the works of Michael Aubrey in 1986 and Suffolk artists who exhibited at the Woodbridge Art Gallery or the Deben Gallery include Hugh Boycott-Brown, Rufus De Pinto, Eleanor Amy Dunham, David Henry Evans,David Haste, Mona Jupp, Oscar Douglas MacDonald, Audrey Penn, Anne Rea and Geoffrey Philip Richardson. The Gallery closed around 1993 but in June 2019 Deben Frames celebrated 50 years of business.
