DEBEN GALLERY

The Woodbridge Art Gallery at 26 Market Hill, Woodbridge, Suffolk was founded by Anne Paterson Wallace in 1961 this she sold to Derek and Josephine Walpole who moved to Woodbridge and in 1969 and ran the now named Deben Gallery. Their in-house framing service outgrew the rooms behind the gallery and in 1985 they moved to the nearby 22 Anson Road, Martlesham Heath and in 1988 Derek and Josephine’s son Robert joined the firm and assumed control of Deben Frames in 1993. In June 2019 Deben Frames celebrated 50 years of business. The Deben Gallery held an exhibition of the works of Michael Aubrey in 1986, but the Gallery closed around 1993. Suffolk artists who exhibited at the Deben Gallery include Hugh Boycott-Brown, Eleanor Amy Dunham, David Henry Evans,David Haste, Mona Jupp, Oscar Douglas MacDonald, Audrey Penn, Anne Rea and Geoffrey Philip Richardson.
