David Henry Evans

David Henry Evans, was born in London on 20 December 1929. David studied at Central School of Arts and Crafts in London under Keith Vaughan (1912-1977). Early in his career he showed photomontages at Gallery One and gained several commissions which included a design for the Hollywood Room in the Observer Film Exhibition 1956, and a mural for the Soup Kitchen, Knightsbridge. In 1965, David began painting watercolours and gouaches, and in 1967 he settled at Potash Farm, Church Road, Dallinghoo, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1967, where he and his partner set up in self-sufficiency. His next exhibition was in 1973, when his work was included in a mixed show at Deben Gallery, Woodbridge and in 1975 his work was included in summer show at Redfern Gallery, London where he had solo exhibitions from 1979, but had had solo shows at McMurray Gallery 1976-1978. He was still living at Potash Farm when he died, following a road accident in Suffolk, on 17 February 1988. Redfern gave him a memorial show later that year.
