FARNES, Gus
Gus Robin Farnes was born at Ipswich in 1984, eldest child of Nicholas R Farnes (born 1950) and his wife Margaret née Prince, who married in the Blyth district in Suffolk in 1981. Gus attended Norwich School of Art 2003-2006 where he studied sculpture and was mentored by Chris Summerfield and graduated B.A. (hons) Fine Art. After leaving Norwich, Gus joined Sotheby's as proposal designer, where he learned more about art and the art market. In 2016 Gus left Sotheby's to pursue his practice as a sculptor, setting himself up in the Suffolk studio and foundry formerly utilised by Suffolk sculptor, Laurence Edwards. He has exhibited at Snape Maltings Galleries, Suffolk; Sculpt Gallery, Tiptree, Essex; Fairhurst Gallery, Norwich and in many group shows elsewhere. Farnes' works can be found in private collections throughout Europe, Asia, Australasia, and the United States.
