Janet French came originally from London but has now lived in Essex for many years. Janet studied at Colchester School of Art and gained a B.A. (hons) Fine Art degree in 2006. Together with Emma Buckmaster they jointly chaired Gainsborough's House Printmakers for three years. Janet was elected a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists in 2019 and is a member of The Arborealists; Artworks East; Colchester Art Society and the Printmakers Council. French and Buckmaster often work as a team to create unique etchings of British trees printed onto paper made from the leaves of the tree itself. Janet French lives and works in Suffolk and has exhibited at the Royal Academy; Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham; Benham Gallery, Colchester; Geedon Gallery, Fingringhoe; Chappel Galleries, Essex; Gallery East, Woodbridge; Watts Gallery, Down Lane, Guildford; Dadbrook Gallery, Cuddington, Aylesbury; Cambridge City Art Fair; Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Park; Gallery East and elsewhere.
