Benham Gallery, Cuckoo Farm Studios, Boxted Road, Mile End, Colchester, Essex. In 1992 the tenant farmer, Colchester Arts Forum and Colchester Borough Council instigated the conversion and renovation of several redundant farm buildings to provide low-cost studios for artists and craftspeople. Cuckoo Farm Studios was subsequently established when a small group of artists moved in and began to turn this derelict farm into a suitable establishment for practicing professional artists to work from. It has since grown to house over thirty studios and prides itself on the professionalism of its artists and the reputation that they bring to the organisation. It has become a valuable resource within the wider community, through collaborative links with the Minories, Colchester School of Art, Colchester Art Society, Firstsite and Essex University. Benham Gallery is an artist run and organised with a variety of events throughout the year and Suffolk artists who use the Benham Gallery, Cuckoo Farm Studos include Claudia Boese, Lupe Cunha and Liam Hennessy.
