COPE, Paul
Paul B. Cope was born at Leicester in 1960, son of Norman E. Cope and his wife Jean M. née Wilson, who married at Leicester in 1954. Paul was educated at Quorn Rawlins Upper School and studied at art colleges in Leicester 1981-1982 and Sheffield 1983-1986, graduating with a B.A. (hons) in Fine Art in 1986. He worked as an art teacher for many years, in middle schools in Suffolk. Paul gained an M.A. (Distinction) in art education from Anglia Ruskin University in 1998 and has since achieved a Doctorate in Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts. He has had solo exhibitions at Bosworth Academy, Leicestershire; Ecology Centre, Middlesborough; Old Stables Gallery, Diss, Norfolk; The Cut Halesworth and Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk; Cardiff Central Library also exhibiting at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge; Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings Galleries and elsewhere. Paul has retired from teaching but continues to paint, collage, and print from his studio at Halesworth near the Suffolk coast.
