Peter Beare

Peter John Beare, was born in Lothingland, Suffolk on 26 April 1943, son of Harry Charles Beare (1895-1982) and his wife Elsie Violet née Burgess (1905-1988), who married in Lothingland in 1936 and in 1939 were living at Bears Cottages, Lothingland. Peter studied at Lowestoft Art School in display and design before working in commercial art for ten years winning several prizes for display. He later took up fine art and studied with Jeffrey Camp [q.v.] and Cedric Morris [q.v.] and, after passing a City and Guilds adult trainer award course, commenced freelance, teaching calligraphy and painting workshops. A member of the Lowestoft Art Group since 1959 and exhibited at St John's Church Hall, Lowestoft in December 1960 'Spanish Steps, Rome' and was also a member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle 1962-1965 from Lowestoft, Suffolk. He has exhibited locally and in Norwich and some of his works are in private collections in London, New Zealand and Australia. He died at 3 Clintock Place, Kithener Road, Great Yarmouth on 13 September 1991.
