OTHER ART FAIR

2011 - ?

The Other Art Fair in London was created in 2011 by Ryan James Richard Stanier (1981-) as a 4-day event to promote emerging artists with the first fair in November 2011 at the Oxo Building on the Southbank with key turning points in the fair were in 2014 when Tracey Emin (1963-) agreed to take a booth and sell some of her work for under £100 and then in 2016 when Saatchi Art came on board giving the participating artists an online presence throughout the year. Since its inception, The Other Art Fair has expanded globally, with over seventy editions in major cities worldwide, selling over 75,000 artworks from young talents across twenty-two countries including London and Brooklyn both having two fairs a year along with a fair in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, and in Toronto. The Other Art Fair is different to conventional art shows as the carefully selected artists sell their works directly to collectors, without galleries working in their behalf. It gives art lovers the chance to meet the artists, and it makes the work more affordable. Collectors who are just starting are given the opportunity to purchase early pieces from the future big names in the art world and with around 140 artists at each fair, the event attracts enthusiastic buyers seeking new artistic talent as well as curators and galleries looking to expand their roster. Suffolk artists who have exhibited at the Other Art Fair include Sophie Elinor Martin, Rachel Pedder-Smith, Karen Turner and Michelle Watson.
