Sophie Elinor Martin

Sophie Elinor Martin was born at Ipswich in 1986, daughter of Barry Frederick Martin and his wife Philippa A. née Newton, who married at Deben, Suffolk in 1976. Sophie studied at Suffolk College and at Norwich University of the Arts 2009-2012, graduating with a B.A. Fine Art degree. Working with Art Deco Jewellery in Mayfair, London gave her the freedom to explore her artistic works. Now a Suffolk based artist, Sophie Elinor Martin combines the use of traditional and contemporary methods using oil, pencil and charcoal and spray paint to create large scale and unique perspectives of animals and insects. Her fascination has broadened over the intricacies of the animal ecosystem, towards the fast-declining bee. Her work is about the phenomena of the physical world in a mythical and fantasy landscape and enjoys fabricating subjects with expression, energy and most recently colour and she thrives on working with the human figure as well as exploring the various aspects of animal art for which she has received many commissions. She has exhibited from Shop Farm, Shop Road, Clopton, Woodbridge, Suffolk at Affordable Art Fair, Battersea, London; the Other Art Fair, London; Byard Art, Cambridge; Buckenham Galleries, Southwold; Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge and at Carley's Yard, Framlingham, Suffolk.
