Andrew Vass

Andrew Murray Vass was born in the City of London in 1961, son of Michael Vass (3 January 1933-25 February 2019) and his wife Patricia née Thomson, who married at Uxbridge, London in 1960. Andrew studied at Cambridge College of Art and Technology 1978-1982 and went on to teach in the art department Ipswich School of Art at Suffolk College, Ipswich, proceeding to Suffolk New College and University Campus Suffolk 1992-1998. An artist in charcoal, oil, dry point and watercolour and lived and worked in Ipswich for a number of years and exhibited at the Royal Academy also showing at Ipswich Town Hall Gallery; Gainsborough’s House, Sudbury; Kettle's Yard, Cambridge; North House Gallery, Manningtree; Chicago Art Fair; Jerwood Drawing Prize, London; Contemporary British Print, Shanghai with solo shows at Trumpington Gallery, Cambridge, Amalgam and at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. His work is held in the Nomura Bank and Ipswich Borough collections. He married at Cambridge in 1983, Karla F. Sage and had a home at Bay Cottage, The Street, Holbrook, Ipswich and later moved to 62 Elliott Street, Ipswich. Andrew Murray Vass died at Ipswich on 11 June 2015.
