WYMONDHAM ART SOCIETY

? - ?

Wymondham Art Society was formed in the early 1980s, to bring together local people with a shared interest in the visual arts in all mediums. The society has grown to over seventy members, including many talented and accomplished leisure painters as well as several well-regarded professional artists. The meetings are held at the Roman Catholic Church Hall, Norwich Road, Wymondham on the first Wednesday of each month except for January and are very well attended. The members are knowledgeable and lively and appreciate the varied and entertaining programme of demonstrations or lectures by professional artists, art educators or tutors. Every month, members may submit a painting for their competition with winners being decided by members' ballot and their Annual Exhibition at the Wymondham Arts Centre, Beckets Chapel, Church Street, Wymondham, home to Wymondham Arts Centre, and is open to all members and a member may hang up to three framed pictures for sale. Some 'Plein Air' painting sessions can be arranged which is a technical challenge as well as great social get together. New members are welcomed to join the Society. Suffolk artist members and exhibitors include Alfie Carpenter, Moira Fraser-Steele, Jazz Green, Bridget Heriz-Smith, Alison Jones and Robin Welch.
