ALDEBURGH ART TRAIL

2013 - ?

Aldeburgh Studio Trail was founded in 2013 by Reet Gildray and Lamorna Good, who were inspired to create the trail as there were many artists living in and around the area. Each year some thirty artists open their studios to the public, showing painting, photography, printing, jewellery, pottery, and mixed media, with all work for sale. Timed to coincide with The Aldeburgh Festival, as year after year many thousands of people have enthusiastically walked around the studios of these Suffolk based artists which are within walking distance, with cafes, pubs and hotels. This is a chance to meet the artists in their studios where they are happy to discuss their work, influences, inspirations, and techniques, with many buyers returning year on year to purchase unique art. In 2026 the name was amended to Aldeburgh Art Trail when organised by jewellery designer Louise Sant (1958-) with artist and graphic designer David Gillingwater with the preview show held at Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall. Together with the help of each member, they present their work for sale to the public in venues that are conveniently located within walking distance of each other in the centre of town. Exhibitor members included Brian Coetzee; Jennie Foley; Claire Fried; Reet Gildray; David Gillingwater; Louise Sant; Jenny Somerville; Astra Taylor-Todd and Anna Toppin.
