Max Clements

Maxine Tracy Clements studied fine art at Falmouth College of Art. Max draws with ink, oil, and charcoal; enjoying how each medium reacts to the surface on which she is working to create her abstract landscape interpretations. Her paintings and drawings are an abstract rhythmic response to landscape, form, family secrets, motherhood, and illness with the landscape around her as the basis for the structure in her work, suggesting faraway places, an escape. Using oil paint to explore and create more complex pieces she paints rhythmic lines and use layers of paint to create depth and colour. The lines and marks are expressively painted, rubbed, etched, and worked over, hiding, and revealing forms over time as the painting progresses. She and her husband Jamie Clements have their studio in Suffolk and Max exhibits in Suffolk with Art Station; Asylum Studios, The Watch House, Orford and at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk; Fairhurst Gallery, Norfolk; North Coast Asylum, Cornwall and elsewhere.
