HARVEY, Charlotte

? - ?

A daughter of Arthur Butler, Charlotte Harvey has lived in Suffolk for most of her life and considers herself a native although she moved to Gloucestershire several years ago. An artist and a printmaker, Charlotte has painted and drawn for as long as she can remember and studied a two-year foundation course at Ipswich School of Art, after which she learned the craft through gallery visits and the wisdom of her father, who was a fine artist. She works ‘en plein air’ being happiest out in the fields, endlessly trying to capture the fleeting conditions also finding that etching is another important field of her art, loving the process and the almost translucent quality of the inks and she is a member of the Gloucester Print makers Cooperative and has produced a wealth of small etchings of coastal scenes and large woodland images. Her work has been exhibited at the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters; the Wolsey Art Gallery at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich; Buckenham Galleries, Southwold; Ipswich Art School Gallery; The Old Fire Engine Gallery, Cambridgeshire; The Museum in the Park Gloucestershire and elsewhere.
