WALKER, Kate
Kate Louisa Walker was born around 1981. She has always been interested in art, and the relationship between art and the natural world. As a 19-year-old, Kate completed her Art Foundation at the Adelaide Central School of Art in South Australia, receiving a thorough tutoring in the visual arts, with particular focus on the discipline of life drawing and went on to a B.A. (hons) in Fine Art at Arts Institute at Bournemouth. She has lived in diverse places such as Australia, the Isle of Mull on Scotland’s west coast, London and in Suffolk, being inspired by the differing landscapes and light qualities of each area. She has now returned to a more traditional style of art making, and her true passion, life drawing. Her local landscape of the Waveney Valley in Suffolk, with its wide swathes of lush grazing marsh, pellucid dykes and tranquil rivers under a vast sky never fail to move Kate taking inspiration for a series of oil-based landscape paintings. Kate has gained a Royal Horticultural Society qualification in Horticulture and Garden Design and recently gained a Fine Art Masters with distinction from Norwich University of the Arts and was a recipient of the Fred Dubery Scholarship awarded by East Anglia Art Fund. She exhibits from her studio at 48 The Street, Geldeston, Beccles, Suffolk (actually Geldeston is in Norfolk) at the Aldeburgh Gallery.
