GILTROW, Anthony
Anthony Giltrow was born at Wood Green, London in 1948, son of Arthur Charles Walter Giltrow (26 June 1918-3 May 1997) and his wife Julia Irene née Evans (16 May 1926-1993), who married at Edmonton in 1947. Anthony had no formal art training but his interest in painting was re-kindled when he saw 'Time Transfixed' by René Magritte (1898-1967), but it was a year or two before he commenced painting and in 1969, he purchased a box of oil paints, some pieces of hardboard, got a book on painting from the library and started to paint in his spare time. In 1979 he moved to Suffolk and around the year 2000 resumed painting. In 2002 he was living at 197 Church Road, Lowestoft with his wife Caroline Wilson and their daughter Rebeccah Giltrow. Anthony works in oil, but is interested in collage in all forms, and his view of the world is often reflected in his work which is produced in a variety of styles, however, in recent years his work has gone in different directions also with different mediums. He has exhibited at Haringey Arts Centre; Walthamstow Art Society Open Exhibition; Halesworth Gallery; Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield; Lowestoft Arts Centre; Kessingland Library and the Coconut Loft, Lowestoft, as well as at various mixed and group shows. Anthony also illustrated the 'Lily and Hudson' series in the 'Kessingland Times'.
