HEALEY, Penny
Penelope K. Healey was born at Ware, Hertfordshire in 1950, daughter of Dennis Alfred Healey and his wife Winifred M. née Fossey, who married at Hemel Hempstead in 1949. A psychiatric nurse, N.H.S., Suffolk Mental Health Services 1972-1981 and Art Therapist, N.H.S., Suffolk Mental Health Services 1982-2002. Penny then studied at University Campus Suffolk at Ipswich 2003-2007 completing a B.A. (hons) Fine Art and subsequently learning and experimenting in a wide range of printmaking methods. Artist in residence at the Suffolk College as part of the Artist Access to Art Colleges Aa2a scheme 2008-2009, which concluded with 'Parameters', an exhibition held alongside three other artists, at The Waterfront Gallery. Her work took the form of a large monoprint installation, which explored the merging of the new University of Suffolk with the old Ipswich dock area resulting in the architectural being echoed by the presentation of the re-configured prints. Penny exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from 35 Orford Road, Ipswich in 1997, 'Pears in a Blue Bowl II' and in 2006 a mixed media on slate 'Early Things 3'. She has also exhibited at 'Drawings for All' at Gainsborough's House Gallery, Sudbury; Cultural Differences Academy of Art, Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic and Ip-art at Chelsea Building Society, Ipswich; Court Gallery, Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge and 'Situation' Centre Noroit Arras, France; Waterfront Gallery, Ipswich and at Print to Edge at Reunion Gallery, Felixstowe, also an exhibitor at Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh.
