Peter Chadwick

Peter Chadwick was born at Leiston, Suffolk in 1948, son of Albert Paxton Chadwick and his second wife, Doreen Phyllis Bosence née Hindley (29 March 1909-22 March 2003), who married at Winchester, Hampshire in 1941. Peter moved to London where he pursued a career in photography, starting out as a fashion photographer followed by expeditions as a filmmaker, but was injured in a fatal volcanic eruption in Ecuador. After a period of painting on glass, Peter returned to photography, taking portraits of actors and actresses at theatre rehearsals. He married at Richmond-upon-Thames in 2003, Bridget Anthony-Wallace and the following year, returned to Suffolk to live with his wife in the house where he was born. He concentrated on photography of the Suffolk landscape specialising in views, seascapes and landscapes and has also studied and practised life drawing, sculpture, painting, on glass as well as on canvas or paper. After attending several of Sudbourne Park Printmakers two-day workshops to learn etching and woodcuts, in 2010 he become a full member of the Group where he exhibits regularly. He also belongs to the Norwich Print Fair Group of artists and, becoming interested in watercolour, is a member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists'. He exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and is now a professional all-round artist, etcher, and photographer, having solo exhibitions every year at the Aldeburgh Gallery and has also exhibited at Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh, Cork Brick Gallery, Bungay and in Varna Bulgaria and elsewhere.
