TINGLE, Michael
Michael J. Tingle was born at Skegness, Lincolnshire on 12 October 1954, son of Peter Tingle (13 May 1920-2001), a teacher, and his wife Kathleen Margaret née Mugglestone (7 October 1924-26 February 2020), only daughter of John W. Mugglestone of 18 North Street, Skegness, who married at St Matthew's Church, Skegness, Lincolnshire on 5 April 1947. Mike was educated mostly in Devon, he also studied at the Bath Academy of Art, Corsham 1973-1976. He has lived in many places across the UK, including Suffolk, and he married at Chippenham, Wiltshire in 1976, Valerie A. Mawby and they lived at 29 Applegarth Road, Newton Abbot and is a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen. His preferred medium was copper plate etching involving fine lines, varied textures, and much detail, however his current work in dry-point and in embossing, has become bolder and simpler but still retains that same humorous vision which has always captivated his audience. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy also showing at the Heffer Gallery, Cambridge; Printworks, Colchester; Gainsborough's House Museum and Gallery, Sudbury; Smiths Row Art Gallery, Bury St Edmund's; North House Gallery, Manningtree, and many other galleries across the UK.
