Andrew Murray Pringle was born at Ealing, London in November 1955, son of Robert Henry Pringle and his wife Pamela Ann Molloy, daughter of Eustace Norman Harper Molloy, who married at Caxton Hall, Westminster on 8 July 1950. Andrew grew up in Nassau, Bahamas and then studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Painting, Oxford 1976-1979 where he was taught by Ronald Brooke Kitaj (1932-2007), R.A. and John Piper (1903-1992) C.H., before studying at the Royal Academy Schools as a postgraduate for an Advanced Diploma 1981-1984. A constructivist landscape painter, Andrew Pringle breaks scenes into abstract shapes using muted tones that capture the colour and light of the Suffolk coast where he has lived for many years. His other seascapes are more conventional, depicting familiar views of boats moored in harbours or beside fisherman’s huts ashore muddy riverbanks and pebbly beaches and his awards include the David Murray Landscape Award, Henfield Award and Knights of the Round Table Award. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and a member of the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group also exhibiting at Mall Galleries, London; Sue Rankin Gallery; New Grafton Gallery and locally at Fermoy Gallery, Kings Lynn and Chappel Galleries, Essex and at Barnsdale Gallery, Yoxford; Halesworth Gallery; The Shed, Iken; Seaview Gallery, Walberswick, all in Suffolk, and elsewhere. He married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 1993, Charlotte Love and they live at Wissett, Halesworth, Suffolk with a fishing shed studio beside the River Blyth.
