HUMPHREYS, Johanne Frances
Johanne Frances Humphreys was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk in July 1968, daughter of Harold A. Humphreys and his wife Maria D. née Constandinos, who married at Poole, Dorset in 1965. Johanne was educated at Manchester Polytechnic, now Manchester University 1989-1992, obtaining a first honours degree. A sculptor and teacher, making abstracted work in a variety of materials, she organised exhibitions for Clock House Arts Association, backdrop paintings for photographers and was also visiting lecturer at Lowestoft College and in 1998 participated in a return project in Minnesota, USA. A member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists and other shows including a solo exhibition at Neal Street Gallery, Covent Garden, London with other exhibitions at Butley Mills Studios, Suffolk Open Studios, Laxfield in Suffolk; two-man show at Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; 'On the Border' at the Wolsey Art Gallery at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich; and a shared show at Chappel Galleries, Essex. Johanne married in 1997 fellow artist Laurence Edwards and lives at Yoxford, Suffolk.
