HAZELWOOD, Gordon
Gordon A. Hazelwood was born at Ipswich in 1935, son Wasley Gordon Hazelwood (18 December 1906-1993), a compositor, and his wife Christina Louise née Farrow (23 December 1907-1984), who married at Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1931, and was a younger brother to David Hazelwood, and in 1939 they were living at 75 Rands Way, Ipswich. Gordon studied painting and sculpture at Ipswich School of Art for his National Diploma in Design 1952-1956 under Philip 'Pif' Fortin, Colin Moss and Bernard Reynolds. Gaining his art teaching certificate at University College London Institute of Education, he taught in secondary schools in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire 1959-1997. He exhibited in Suffolk at the Phoenix Art Gallery, Lavenham and at Snape Maltings Galleries also exhibiting at the Royal Academy and at the New English Art Club and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and had a solo exhibition at Boxfield Gallery, Lytton Way Stevenage in 1999. He married at Ipswich in 1957, Gillian Goulding and lived at Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
