Anne Townshend

As Anne M. Harding, she married at Ipswich in 1974, Digby Roy Townshend (born October 1947), and works under the name of Anne Townshend. Using watercolour has always been a pleasurable challenge and over the years Anne has attended various workshops and courses which encouraged her to combine this with charcoal and other mediums, particularly when working with landscapes. More recently she has become interested with printing techniques, specifically lino-cutting. Having explored and experimented with various printmaking techniques, it was linocut, with its clean illustrative lines, which interests her most. Carving her designs into lino block entails satisfyingly graphic images with her linocuts of fields, hedges, man-made marks on the natural landscape which she exploits and explores, with the Print Workshop at Gainsborough's House support. The Suffolk landscape provides a constant source of inspiration and Anne is a member of the Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Boxford, near Sudbury, Suffolk.
