JOHNSON, Sara
Sara Johnson trained in textile design at Winchester School of Art and at Loughborough College of Art and Design 1972-1976, specialising in weaving. Subsequently she became interested in garden design and landscape painting, a dual career that has its roots in her childhood love of the outdoors and the natural environment. Her work ranges from loose, coloured drawings executed on site, to watercolour and mixed media, semi-abstract paintings, produced back in her studio using sketches, photographs and memory. She is inspired by land and seascapes and rather than producing a literal interpretation trying to convey the spirit and mood of a place. A member of the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail with her studio at 49 Church Road, Hedenham, Bungay, Suffolk [actually Hedrnham, Norfolk] and exhibits in galleries in Norfolk and Suffolk including Snape Maltings Galleries; The Flint Gallery, Westgate Street, Blakeney; Gallery East and Artspace Woodbridge; Cambridge Contemporary Art; The Garage Gallery now the Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; World Land Trust Gallery, Halesworth and has also exhibited with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Mall Galleries in London. Sara also offers classes in watercolour painting at The Art Trading Company, Bungay.
