Nancy L Shuttleworth was born at Liskeard, Cornwall in 1960, daughter of Vernon Robert Shuttleworth (27 December 1917-7 October 2003) and his wife Ruth Luya Shuttleworth née Cunningham, who married at Epping, Essex in 1951, Nancy is one of six artist sisters who include Cathie Shuttleworth and Mary Ruth Shuttleworth. Nancy studied art to 'A' level but was encouraged to pursue a professional career and trained as a chiropodist/podiatrist, which provided her with a rewarding working life. However, she continued attending art classes, developing her skills, particularly in life drawing which practice trained her to observe and capture subjects accurately. Nancy married at Gipping in Suffolk Vivien H Smith and once their three children left home, she fully embraced painting. Nancy worked alongside her mother at the Eye Arts Guild and held her first exhibition in 2016 and have since continued exploring various mediums, including pastel, watercolour, acrylic, charcoal, and chalk and hold occasional exhibitions including at the Pastel Society.
