ROOM, Sue
As Susanne Jane Perkins she married at Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire in 1971, David E Room (1947-) and works as Sue Room. Sue studied sculpture and printmaking at Liverpool School of Art and taught art in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Sue's work is inspired by her love of the sea and the East Anglian Coastline and of Venice, being interested in the interaction with these environments.​ Sue was a member and exhibitor at the Southwold Art Circle where she was a prizewinner in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017 also a member of Artists’ Network Bedfordshire. Sue creates printing plates on silver foil backed card, scratching into the surface with sharp implements and adding sand and glue for tonal effects and her collagraph prints are produced on a large hospital iron mangle that has been converted into an etching press. Sue has also exhibited at The Cut Halesworth; Southwold Art Society; Eastern Open Art Exhibition, King's Lynn; The Eagle Gallery, St Peters Street, Bedford and elsewhere.
