ATCHLEY, Nicola
Nicola Atchley gathers stones whilst walking on the beaches of Suffolk, Portugal and the Outer Hebrides being interested in the textures of these rocks that have been weathered and eroded that make up the coastlines. Collecting objects is important to her work, old tools from markets, rusty hooks from boatyards, these are my souvenirs which she takes home to study, draw, etch plates and print them. As an extension to her work drawing the landscape she has turned the rocks and earth into pigments and started using it as a printing ink. Nicola, who lived in Orford, Suffolk exhibits with Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers; New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, Surrey; Freudian Sheep Gallery, Ipswich; Great House Gallery, Orford; Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk and elsewhere.
