NORTH OXFORDSHIRE SCHOOL OF ART
North Oxfordshire College and School of Art traces its origins to the establishment of the Banbury Mechanics Institute in 1835 and the Banbury School of Art in 1861. After occupying a number of sites close to the centre of the town, the college moved to its present location in the 1950s. The North Oxfordshire Technical College and School of Art opened in Bath Road in 1961. It incorporated the North Oxfordshire Secondary Technical school at Broughton and the School of Art at the Green. In 2003 the college merged with the Oxford College of Further Education to become the Oxford and Cherwell College. In 2013 it was renamed Banbury and Bicester College with a Campus at Broughton Road, Banbury. Suffolk artists who were tutors or attended these colleges include Penny German, Jane Hamilton and Caroline Keen.
