FRAJBIS, Katherine

Katherine Ann Frajbis was born at New Forest, Hampshire in 1966, daughter of Neil Roderick Frajbis (1936-2018) and his wife Patricia E née Salmon, who married at Epping, Essex in 1963. Before she was two years old her family moved to Staffordshire where she lived until she was twelve when the family moved to Suffolk. Katherine studied at Suffolk College 1983-1985, followed by Canterbury College of Art 1986-1989 where she studied Fine Art later specialising in Printmaking and received a First-Class Honors degree. Katherine then studied printmaking at Chelsea School of Art (1989-1990) and awarded shared first prize by the Trustees of the British Institution Fund at the Royal Academy of Art for her lino cut/etch 'Chetwynde', and also the Julian Trevelyan prize. Katherine became a member of the Gainsborough's House Print Workshop 1996-1999 and was a member of the Printmakers Council exhibiting with both groups. Katherine married at Deben, Suffolk in 1996 Alan Gillman and lived near Cologne in Germany for two years. In 2000, Katherine and her husband relocated to the USA, where they now live near Ann Arbor in South East Michigan. Katherine exhibited widely including in Suffolk with the Young Blood Art Group, Gainsborough's House Museum and Gallery, Eastern Open Art Exhibition and elsewhere including Mall Galleries, London and widely in the United States.
