RICHARD GREEN GALLERY
James Green opened Bond Street Gallery at 4 St James's Street in 1936 which later moved to 9 New Bond Street and had represented Sir Alfred Munnings in his lifetime. His son Richard Green joined his father at the Bond Street Gallery before setting out on his own in 1955. In 1959, with his elder brother John, they opened the St James's Gallery in Jermyn Street and in 1965, together with his wife and partner Jennifer, established their first gallery at 36 Dover Street, expanding to 44 Dover Street in 1972. Exhibiting Old Masters and Victorian pictures also in Sporting paintings. In 1979 they acquired a gallery at 4 New Bond Street to display Impressionist and Modern British paintings. In 2024 Richard Green Gallery moved from 33 New Bond Street to the larger 147 New Bond Street. The Suffolk artists who had exhibitions at Richard Green/Bond Street Gallery include Anna Airy, Margaret Hanbury Frere, Elisabeth Jean Frink, Ivon Hitchens, Tom Lewsey, Cedric Morris, Alfred Munnings, Thomas Smythe, Peggy Somerville, Philip Wilson Steer and other associated artists.
