JOHNSON, Ilona
Ilona A Johnson studied at Hornsey College of Art followed by Maidstone College of Art and was accepted into the Royal College of Art to study environmental media. Ilona married at Braintree, Essex in 1983 Christopher Northall, but continued to work as Ilona Johnson. Ilona has worked as an Art Psychotherapist for some 30 years and has both a Master's in Art Psychotherapy from St Albans and in Visual Theory from the University of East Anglia. Ilona is a mixed media fine artist in a variety of media including printmaking, painting, drawing and collage using found objects. Much of her work focuses on place and landscape, in particular the way light and shape inform its character. Throughout her career she has always been interested in the diverse ways she can represent form through various technical disciplines, with her subjects ranging from landscapes to still life and portraits. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy; Mall Galleries; Gainsborough's House Museum and Gallery, Sudbury; Minories, Colchester and elsewhere and is a member of Sudbury Art Collective and of Suffolk Open Studios from 34 Plough Lane, Sudbury, Suffolk. Museums and private collectors have purchased her work.
